Curieux de découvrir les possibilités offertes par l'art video, Mark Verstockt réalise en 1974 la video Five Acts on Screen, publiée par Continental à Anvers.
La même année, le critique et commissaire d'expositions Jan Debbaut rédige un article sur cette nouvelle forme d'art (Some Notes on video art in Belgium, mai-juin 1974) et précise à propose de Five Acts on Screen : "Verstockt himself defines his works as an attempt to change the screen into a kind of 'graphic support' for five consecutive, appropriate (adapted) graphic activities in process. one of the aims is to make the spectator realize that the scheme is not spectator-screen-actor-support, but a different, unexpected situation, which includes the blowing-up of the screen as such: spectator-screen/support-actor"
